20 Oct 2011- Week 5, Corsetry

On a stand and on the fitted model

This corset it covered in white silk with a lace pattern, It brought the model’s waist down from 28 inches to 22 1/2. With tight lacing, the effect could have been increased.

*There are some minor pieces to be completed such as the hook and clip on top of the bust and the bottom trim.

July 14 2011- Puppetry “Black Sail, White Sail”

The Greek tragedy of Theseus transformed into a puppetry performance for young and old audiences alike. 

Along with working on various other puppets I created the small Greek ship that was to guide the audience from scene to scene. The puppet included a sail that dropped and oars that moved back and fourth.

Inspired by the Opera ‘Fairy Queen’ by Henry Purcell. The libretto is an anonymous adaptation of William Shakespeare’s wedding comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

I chose to design for the character Puck and performed to the track “Dance of the Imps in the Hall of the mountain king” which was performed by Apocalyptica, a band from Helsinki, Finland.
